Career education

Thinking career through RIASEC activity

Laiba comes from a lower middle-class family of KPK. Before attending the session on career education, she always thought of becoming a doctor. But her options were limited, it was either doing MBBS or marrying like her elder sister if she didn’t get selected for MBBS.

Through RIASEC activity at the session, she identified her interests match the field of teaching. The RIASEC test helped her think deeply about her likes and interests. The inspiring stories of women made her believe that anything was possible if she put her mind and heart to it. Even marriage wasn’t a barrier, and you can achieve so much even after marrying.

The session helped her broaden her perspective on the various career options that were out there. It was never limited to just MBBS. She learned that she could become a Biology lecturer after doing master’s in Biology and it was a really good option because of her good aptitude in the subject and she also learned that she had a passion of teaching and explaining something to a crowd after taking the RIASEC test. Other than that, she can also choose to be a nurse if she doesn’t become a doctor. She also identified that one of her strengths was hosting and acting, she realized that she did really well in her school presentations and school drama competitions which provided her with another career option of pursuing acting. So, overall, this session left a great positive impact on her and widened her view of the world of opportunities out there.
