Graduation Model

1. What is Graduation Model?

The graduation model aims to assist the FHBWs’ gradual transition to a sustainable livelihood.

By providing three areas of interventions, namely life management capacity development, financial access promotion and income generation support in holistic manner, the model serves to support the FHBWs to be economically self-reliant and sustainable in the long term.

The model has been proved to be effectives by pilot activities and many success stories have been observed.

Through hands-on training, follow-up activities and coaching, the graduation model supports FHBWs to become able to understand and apply what they learn, according to the stage so that they could improve their lives and business to participate in the market economy.

Four short introductory videos for Graduation model are available.

3. Target Beneficiaries and Users

The graduation model is expected to be used by NGOs, training institutes, or any other organizations including private entities or individuals, whether private or public, that trains, supports, or provides mentoring FHBWs as well as women from low-income families.

The above users support the target beneficiaries by the graduation model.

The primary target is induvial FHBWs doing small business by own account of low income segment in urban area, and group of FHBWs doing mainly handicraft business in rural areas.

The secondary target is ‘male family and community members of FHBWs’.

In the patriarchal society, male understanding and support is one of the keys for FHBWs to progress further.

‘Family approach’ is introduced in the graduation model.

Male members were familiarized with concept of graduation approach, acted as disseminator in the communities and organizer of male sessions at villages.
