One male family member of a beneficiary makes shoes and he also works as an ice cream vendor in Karachi during the summer. He attended the orientation for male members and TOT held at the SRSO.
His wife is a member of BDG and has attended sessions. He learned about the sessions from his wife. He used to save in the past, but not in a structured way. Now, he saves systematically. He has started saving by doing his own laundry when he is in Karachi to reduce laundry expenses and by consuming less tea. He expressed that learning is beneficial and good exposure, since they don't have many other activities. He finds the sessions to be highly enlightening.
<Mobility of Women>
In the past, women were strictly restricted from leaving the village. However, during a group training held at the SRSO, the staff convinced them that "We are someone's daughters, too." He was persuaded by this argument. The SRSO female staff treated them with respect. After attending a few sessions, he came to realize that women also have the right to travel. He used to restrict women's movement like one would with an animal, but he now understands that such behavior is pointless.
